Topic Four: Landscape, Representation, Intervention and Body-as-Site Landscape Interpretation Artwork

This is the artwork I created based on my visit to a park in Southwest Miami, I decided to make a video art in order to better capture the relationship between animals, vegetation, and human constructions and artistic expressions from the place I visited. I juxtaposed several images and videos from the placed I visited, as well as my own drawings from the place.

Topic Four: Landscape, Representation, Intervention and Body-as-Site, my commuting to school.

Image
This is the drawing I made for my commuting to school assignment. I tried to show each moment, and focus on the stress that traffic makes me feel, by the use of the color red, and the relaxed times by the use of blue, imitating how Google Maps uses color for traffic.

Topic Three, Rhinoceros, Part Three, Portrait/Propaganda

Image
These are the artworks I created for the portrait/propaganda assignment. In this assignment, I wanted to show the contrast between the real self and the image a person tries to advertise to the world.  The first artwork depicts a young woman, with a preoccupied, insecure expression. I used a ballpoint pen on cardboard to draw her without makeup and paying attention to all the marks and wrinkles in order to capture the expression.  For the second piece, I photographed the model posing as she was taking a selfie, with makeup as if she were at a party, then, I digitally located her at a concert, with drinks on a table, this way the image feels almost real but still fake. Then I added Instagram icons and hashtags, as a statement of that necessity one may feel of saying to the world: "Hey, I'm beautiful, I'm having a good time, I'm happy". This necessity can be sometimes well funded, and it's a reality for many. These are images of the creative pr...

Topic Three, Rhinoceros, Creatures based on the text given in class

Image
Based on the text given in class, about descriptions of different creatures, I created this artwork, which is an interpretation of the fourth description, a creature that can be interpreted as a reptilian. For this piece, I used black & white analog photography, mixing two negatives by double exposure. Then I added color and drawing, digitally, using Photoshop, and Adobe Draw. This is the original print.  This is the image with color added. This is the final artwork. The other artwork I made was inspired by the first creature of the text, which, as I guessed, was a hippopotamus. I didn't draw a hippo though, I limited myself to follow the description from the text. This is the watercolor I made based on the text.
