Topic Three, Rhinoceros, Part Three, Portrait/Propaganda

These are the artworks I created for the portrait/propaganda assignment.

In this assignment, I wanted to show the contrast between the real self and the image a person tries to advertise to the world.
The first artwork depicts a young woman, with a preoccupied, insecure expression. I used a ballpoint pen on cardboard to draw her without makeup and paying attention to all the marks and wrinkles in order to capture the expression.
For the second piece, I photographed the model posing as she was taking a selfie, with makeup as if she were at a party, then, I digitally located her at a concert, with drinks on a table, this way the image feels almost real but still fake. Then I added Instagram icons and hashtags, as a statement of that necessity one may feel of saying to the world: "Hey, I'm beautiful, I'm having a good time, I'm happy". This necessity can be sometimes well funded, and it's a reality for many.

These are images of the creative process
