Topic Two, Artwork based on a section of my interpretation of Hepplewhite's chair.

This is the final piece I created based on a quadrant from one of the views of my interpretation of Hepplewhite's chair. These are the views of the chair I made. I created my final artwork based on the following quadrant of the superior view. This is a picture I shot to use as a reference. These are images of the creative process.

Topic Two, The European Vision of the Rhinoceros.

  4- Albrecht Dürer's rhinoceros compared to Hans Burgkmair's woodcut    I prefer Albrecht Dürer's print rather than Hans Burgkmair's. In my opinion, while Dürer's woodcut is less realistic, adding features like a horn on the base of the neck, and plates that look like armored and organized patterns like scales in the legs, the artist captured the essence, the mood, the spirit of the animal, drawing him as a menacing, fierce, and majestic beast. Burgkmair's print shows him with a gentler expression, and in chains, diminishing his magnificence. 7- In my opinion, the most amusing depiction of the rhinoceros is Franqois Leguat's, in his print "Voyuge et avanrures . . . en deux isles desertesdes Indes orientales". In this print, the artist depicts various rhinoceros, but it's like he is re-imagining them, based on external sources; one of the rhinoceros is very similar to Dürer's, but  Franqois Leguat put his own interpretation in all o...

Topic Two: Pattern and Ornament. Assignment One: Kit & Instructions

 These are the instructions and materials needed to build my three-dimensional artwork, which took form based on a simple, two-dimensional drawing. This is the drawing I made in class. Materials needed:    -Air Dry Clay; 1/2 to 3/4 lb.    -Cardboard; 1 8x10 piece.    -Acto Knife.    -Adhesive Tape    -Pencil.    -Pencil Sharpener.    -Acrylic Paint; Colors White, Black & Cadmium Yellow. Step 1    -Mold the clay, using both hands, creating a curved form, compressed on one side, chunky on the other side. It should be 7 to 8 inches long, and 2 to 2 1/2 inches in its wider part. Step 1.1, side view     -From a superior view, make the compressed side wider, and the chunky side narrower, make sure both sides end in a pointed shape.
